INTEL Corporation, Embedded and Communication Group, has chosen Smart Surface to enter into a cooperation for testing Intel’s latest chip in gesture control applications, which are considered ones of the highest processor-demanding applications.

Intel is supplying their latest motherboard (model is confidential) together with their new AVX compilation software development tool and is funding the development.

As a first step, Smart Surface is developing a proof demo for INTEL within this year. The next step will involve greater cooperation whereby INTEL will consider financing a research for developing a full-fledged gesture control application using INTEL latest motherboard. The application will be developed by Smart Surface based on 3dimensional display technology from 3D International (see cooperation with 3Di).

Smart Surface Sdn Bhd & 3D International – the brand owner of Visumotion has accepted to cooperate on developing a gesture controlled three dimensional applications.

3Di will provide their technology of three dimensional view screens and Smart Surface will make the images gesture controllable.

As a first project, Smart Surface has already started developing an architectural application that allows gesture control of 3D architectural images for a large real estate client.

The next step will include wider applications such as gaming and medical.

3D International Group is an amalgamation of companies that posses state-of-the-art 3D screen and display technology with subsidiaries such as 3D International Europe GmbH (formerly known as VisuMotion GmbH) in Germany and 3D International of America Inc. (formerly known as ThreeView Technologies Inc.) in the USA.

3Di has chosen Smart Surface after examining their gesture control technology which Smart Surface has been developing for the past year as part of their touch-less multitouch control application development.

The success of this cooperation will create a true science-fiction-like application where people can manipulate with their bare hands holographic 3D images floating in the air.

Their solutions are the first to use laser-based detection in addition to the standard IR illumination, and stripped LCD based display technology in the place of IR projection. The Smart Surface solution is the only full-function surface computing solution in Malaysia, and on a per-inch screen size basis, has a significant cost advantage over competing international solutions.
